“Paris, les Hôtels Réunis, 2006” by Bruno Boudjelal 		 
   

Twenty four families live in the - Hotels Réunis - , furnished hotel in the 20th district of Paris. Many of them live together in tiny rooms from 9 to 13 m2. By legal decision this hotel had to shut down due to the insalubrity of the accommodations. They are thus squatteurs in spite of them and are assigned in justice by their owner... For the families without legal papers, they know they're going to be fired. During summer, 2006, some families acquired their legal papers, .. some didn't.

Vingt-quatre familles occupent Les Hôtels Réunis, un hôtel meublé du 20e arrondissement de Paris. Ils logent à plusieurs dans de minuscules chambres de 9 à 13 m2. L’insalubrité des logements a entraîné l’interdiction d’exploitation de l’hôtel par décision préfectorale. Ils sont donc des squatteurs malgré eux et sont assignés en justice par leur propriétaire... Quant aux familles sans papiers n’ayant pas obtenu leur titre de séjour, elles risquent purement et simplement l’expulsion. Durant l’été 2006, quelques familles ont obtenu leur titre de séjour, d’autres se sont vues signifier un refus…

Chaque chambre co˚te entre 80 et 100 ? par jour et les loyers sont payÈs par les associations caritatives. Ces 24 familles ont dÈcidÈ de former un collectif pour refuser un relogement et demander des papiers depuis elles sont hors la loi et ont ÈtÈ radiÈes par ces associations. Elles sont considÈrÈes comme des &quotsquatteurs" et font l'objet d'un avis d'expulsion. <br><br>France, Paris, 2006<br>The &quotHÙtels RÈunis", 24 families and 19 paperless people live in a social hotel. Each room is rent 80 and 100 euros per day, and the rents are paid by charities. These 24 families decided to create a co-operative in order not to be rehoused and to ask for papers since they have become outlaw and they have been banned from the associations.
