Agence VU - Sophie Chivet
Sophie Chivet

Sophie Chivet's passion for architecture can be found in every single one of her photographs.

Strongly outlined by pure structures, her portraits are like her visions of buildings or the fine details in clothing or animals. The resulting effect is filled with finesse. Whether working in black and white or colour, with rectangle or square format, she commits her work to a sharp light and a pure layout. Escaping the emptiness of easy effects, she rigorously plays with a notion perfectly derived from tasteful classicism.

Bamako, Mali (2009)

Lumiere des jours (2008)

Over the seasons Sophie Chivet has seized the forms, the light, the wind that gently makes grass move. She has let herself carry away by the gentleness from Touraine. Together with Anna de Noailles’ delicate poems, Chivet has sought the glare, the frailty and the irremediable. Loaded with coloured shades, nostalgia and sensuality, her photographs lead to wonder about our connection to time and earth.

The Law Courts of Paris, France (2007)

Located in the heart of Paris on the Île de la Cité, the law courts (the "Palace of Justice") occupy more than 4 hectares of land and, with the various floors, have nearly 200,000 sq. m. of space. The building contains around 24 kilometers of hallways, 7,000 doors and more than 3,150 windows. Four thousand magistrates and civil servants work there everyday, but if you count all of the legal officers, lawyers, police officers and gendarmes, defendants, tourists and spectators who come to the law courts on a given day, the building welcomes an average of 15,000 people daily. The security of the law courts is ensured by the Republican Guard, under the command of a lieutenant-colonel. In...

Paris, the Museum national : Collections of birds and mammals Both a scientific establishment and a public service, applying itself to research and the dissemination of knowledge, the Museum has five main founding objectives which govern and nourish all of its activities.
