Fabrice Picard, born in 1961, studied at the French Society of Photography and the Centre for Media and Photography.
The winner of the Paysage Européen Prize in 1992 and honored by the Galerie d'Essai in 1987, Fabrice Picard works on various subjects such as duplicity, identity, photographic writing, death, the notion of borders, and writing. His works such as "Bestiaire Magnifique," "La Mort Dévisagée," and "Lieux Ordinaires," ""Orage" (Oradour-sur-Glane), "Les Jardins de Lucifer," "Rupestres," and "Occultations," identify him as a photographer concerned with a coherent form based upon an academic approach that advances photography as a medium. In addition to his projects, he works with the French and international press, particularly Libération.
« Orage » (Thunderstorm) was published in the book « Du côté d'Oradour ». This report remains the massacre perpetrated by the SS division « Das Reich ». This works takes a look at animality and more particulary at the extremely thin thread which separates it from humanity. This narrow, fragile edge, where man recognizes himself in animals and vice versa. The aim of capturing things quickly, rather like the sketch technique, presided over the processing of the image.
