VU'WORKSHOPS
Stage photo à Paris
The 27, 28 and 29 of April 2012

Denis Dailleux
the in situ portrait

In situ, the portrait seen by Denis Dailleux.
The shooting sessions in Paris will alternate with editing sessions and critics of the images produced, at Agence VU'. All the shootings will be done in locations chosen and identified by Denis Dailleux as appropriate for portraits. He will offer to optimize the relationship between the photographer and the model: choice of the frame, the light and the instant. A photographic process that Denis Dailleux likes to observe and understand within other people as well as within himself. In a genre in which he excels, in situ portraiture offers a balance between the understanding of the subject and the location chosen for the picture. An approach so mastered by Denis Dailleux that it is impossible today to dissociate his portraits from the places in which he has chosen to live and photograph; as can be seen in his pictures of Cairo, or more recently Ghana.

Biography

Born in 1958 in Angers. Lives in Cairo.

With his renown delicacy, Denis Dailleux’s photography appears calm yet incredibly demanding. It is traced with permanent doubts and coloured by the vital personal relationship he maintains with those he frames within his camera.

His passion for people has encouraged him to take up portraiture as his preferred means of representing those with whom he would like to become close. His work has been rewarded by several prices, including the World Press Photo and the Hasselblad Price from the city of Vevey.
