Agence VU' & Le Bec en l'Air Editions How to layout one's photographic work: from portfolio to self-publication
2, 3 and 4 december 2016
To learn how to select from one's photographs and to organize them in a meticulous layout, is today more important than ever to show one's work. The current renewed interest in photo-books is a proof of a need to apprehend images in a clear and definite form: nowadays, when the digital flow is omni-present, a true proposition of a reading of the world is sought after.
However, this stage of selection and laying out of the photographer's work can be intricate, even for the professionals. Very often one has to part with images he or she is attached to, in order to re invent a story very different from the one he lived during the shooting of the images. The intention and the form become clearer further to many meticulous choices.
During this workshop, 3 specialists from the world of the image will help you to bring out the essence of your work, and will work with you on the laying out of what could become a portfolio or a a self-published book. The rules for an edition/ layout (size, lay-out, relation between text and image) will be presented in details, as one of many tools to reveal the narrative strength of your images.
